Barrio Bellavista is a neighborhood located near Cerro San Cristóbal. It is known for it’s hip restaurants as well as art galleries. It is a hot spot, and as the night progresses tends to get busier. It is best to arrive before 9pm if you want a table. The menu features a variety Chilean and Mediterranean dishes. As it is prone to rain during the winter, it is most advisable to visit Santiago during the summer months of December – March. Santiago has the most extensive subway system in all of Latin America. It is easy to get to most locations via subway or taxi. It is not advisable to travel by bus in Santiago, as it can be chaotic and dangerous. Since the layout of the city is in a grid structure, it is very common for people to get around on foot.
