In an effort to restore travelers’ faith in flying, eliminate health-related concerns, and ensure the destination countries welcome those who land abroad with the most up to date entry requirements, U.S. airports are moving to join the number of international airports offering rapid covid-testing onsite, allowing travelers whose results are negative to skip or minimize quarantine restrictions in various destinations.
This past week, Tampa International Airport joins JFK, Newark and LaGuardia airports and made Covid-19 tests available to all ticketed passengers. San Francisco and Los Angeles both plan to roll out similar plans this month as well.
Airline companies are quickly following suit, with American Airlines, United Airlines, Hawaiian Airlines and JetBlue Airways offering preflight testing to passengers after their request for a government-mandated testing program was unanswered by the White House.
We are encouraged to see these new streamlined efforts taking shape throughout the country in addition to medical reports confirming that the airplane’s HEPA air filters, mask requirements and proper hygiene practices keep the odds of catching Covid-19 on a plane to 1/4300.
